Brown Rice
Ingredients:
- Basmati rice- 1½ cups
- Water- 3 cups
- Sugar- 1 tsp
- Ghee/butter- 4 tbsp
- Chopped onion- 2(medium)
- Green chillies- 2-3(chopped)
- Minced ginger- ½ tsp
- Minced garlic- ½ tsp
- Cinnamon sticks- 3-4(3 cm.)
- Bay leaves- 4-5
- Black pepper- 5
- Salt to taste
- Cashew- 4-5
Method:
- Clean and wash basmati rice and soak in water for 10 minutes.
- Melt butter in a frying pan and add cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and black pepper.
- Fry for a minute and add sugar.
- Saute for few seconds and add the onion, chillies, ginger and garlic.
- Fry till the color of onion change to light brown.
- Remove the water of rice and put into pan saute again for 1 minute.
- Pour 3 cups of water and salt into the rice and cook.
- Steam cook the rice until they absorb whole water.
- Shift to serving plate and garnish with cashew.
- Brown rice are ready to serve.
