Brown Rice

Ingredients:

  1. Basmati rice- 1½ cups
  2. Water- 3 cups
  3. Sugar- 1 tsp
  4. Ghee/butter- 4 tbsp
  5. Chopped onion- 2(medium)
  6. Green chillies- 2-3(chopped)
  7. Minced ginger- ½ tsp
  8. Minced garlic- ½ tsp
  9. Cinnamon sticks- 3-4(3 cm.)
  10. Bay leaves- 4-5
  11. Black pepper- 5
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Cashew- 4-5

Method:

  1. Clean and wash basmati rice and soak in water for 10 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in a frying pan and add cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and black pepper.
  3. Fry for a minute and add sugar.
  4. Saute for few seconds and add the onion, chillies, ginger and garlic.
  5. Fry till the color of onion change to light brown.
  6. Remove the water of rice and put into pan saute again for 1 minute.
  7. Pour 3 cups of water and salt into the rice and cook.
  8. Steam cook the rice until they absorb whole water.
  9. Shift to serving plate and garnish with cashew.
  10. Brown rice are ready to serve.
